The Fiat 124 Abarth Rally and the Fiat 131 Rally: Just as important as the A112 Abarth was the Fiat 124 Abarth Rally, which was derived from the Fiat 124 Spider 1800. It garnered victories, such as the European championship and second places in the world championships of 1973, ‘74 and ‘75 behind the Alpine Renault and twice behind the Lancia. The Portugal 1974 Rally went down in history with three 124 Abarth Rally models which took the first three places! In 1976 it was the turn of Fiat 131 Rally (in the picture). As soon as it was presented to the public it won first place at the Elba Island Rally and 1000 Lakes Rally in Finland. An excellent prelude to the two subsequent seasons that would see Fiat assert itself in the Constructors’ World Cup ahead of Ford. The 131 Rally would later leave the scene in 1980, with a victory at the Portugal Rally and three world Constructor titles in its showcase, a Driver title, a European Championship and an Italian Championship. < Resime gitmek için tıklayın > |

After Carlo (CARLO ABARTH'IN ÖLÜMÜNDEN SONRA ÇIKAN FIAT FORMULA ABARTH) These were the last triumphs that Carlo Abarth could enjoy. A born winner, accustomed to keeping up with everything and everyone, he had to give up on October 23 1979 when he was overcome by a severe illness. He died under the sign of Scorpion, the same he was born under. The production of Abarth cars continued throughout the following years, including significant models such as the Fiat Ritmo 125 TC, or the Formula Fiat Abarth (in the picture) training car, with uncovered wheels, created with significant backing from Fiat and the involvement of 11 component suppliers. The Formula Abarth, with a light, rigid, bearing structure and a central, monocoque, impact-absorbing fibreglass body, was produced in a total of 150 units.
