I have been studying for the Security+ exam for a little over a month now. Even with all my flashcards and notes, I still find myself uncertain as to whether I really am prepared. I understand an encryption algorithm or the function of a VPN quite well when taken alone, but when they are applied to a specific situation, such as accessing something remotely from work, I hesitate a moment too long.
I work in help desk right now, and I'm trying to move into a security analyst role, so I know the exam expects some judgment, not just recall, but I don't really know how to practice for that specifically. Flashcards are fine for definitions, but they don't really prepare you for "read this and pick the best response" type thinking.
For those who passed recently, what actually helped you feel ready: more practice exams, working through the material topic by topic, something else? And how did the practice questions you used compare to what you actually saw on exam day?
I also came across the CompTIA SY0-701 exam questions page on CertBoosters while looking for more preparation material, and it gave me a very decent sense of scope.
Has anyone come across a preparation technique that has actually worked, one that was more than simply spending more time studying?
